Birth Plan

I just had to share this website I ran across - birthplan.com. For the past month or so, as my delivery nears, I have been reading book after book about labor and delivery. Many of the books have mentioned creating a 'birth plan'. Not really knowing what that was, I did some research on the internet and found the above website. It's extremely thorough and gives you many options as well as blanks to fill in your own desires. It also has an easy save and print option so that you can print it out and take it to your doctor. Even if you give it to your OB/GYN ahead of time, I recommended printing out a copy and placing it in your hospital bag since you never who will actually deliver your baby.

Shutterfly free 20 page 7X9 photo book

We were eating dinner at a friends how recently and she pulled out her photobooks asking if I had ever seen them. I knew I hadn't so I said no and started looking over them. Now, there may be some of you that love scrapbooking, but I am telling you ... photobooks are the new scrapbook. You can create a beautiful array of pictures placed together with text and grapphic elements, the same way you can in a scrapbook. My husband and I love organization and these just seem so well put together, easy to store, etc. The one Mallory was showing us was of her daughter, Mariah. It was a compilation of photos from Mariah's first year. Mallory said her goal was to do one for each of the kids every year. I told her right then and there I was stealing her idea! :)
So, shutterfly is offering a free 7 X 9 photobook. All you have to do is pay for shipping ($5.00). Use code READYMADEBOOK. If interested, I would jump on this deal asap, as I have no clue when it will end.

The 99 Most Essential Brahms Masterpieces

Amazon has The 99 Most Essential Brahms Masterpieces for only $2. According to them, that's an album savings of $86. Playing classical music has been proven to help baby in and outside of the womb. My husband and I personally love classical music and we plan to expose our children to it early, so I'm definitely grabbing this to place on my iPod!

4D Ultrasound take two
Posted by
Lindsey
at 2:07 AM
So, if you've been reading this blog you saw that a week ago we attempted a 4D Ultrasound but Micah was stubborn and kept his hands and feet in front of his face the entire time. Well, today we got to see his precious little face. We arrived at the office exactly at 2pm. Shannen, the sonographer, was running a little so we sat in the office waiting on her. She arrived about 2:10pm and told us to go ahead and go into the room and get settled. Before she came in, Jason and I said a prayer that we'd be able to see Micah this time. Well as soon as she started, his face filled the screen. I was overwhelmingly excited as I looked at my little man. She was able to do the full 25 minute ultrasound with only a few snags here and there when he decided to cover his face again!
Nonetheless, I was super happy at getting to see him. I am so ready for him to be here! I am so ready to hold him, snuggle with him, laugh at cute things he does. I'll post one of the pictures above. This may sound crazy, because I know the picture isn't that clear, but I really think he looks like me :) I also went to the OB/GYN today and everything is good there. His heartbeat was fluctuating between 135 and 140 and my fundal height is 32 (I am 33 weeks today).

Oh Forgetfulness
Posted by
Lindsey
at 9:41 AM
So just the other day I was telling my husband how I had read that pregnant women, especially in their third trimester, start to experience forgetfulness ... and just as soon as I told him, I made sure to finish with, "I'm sure there's no way I'll have that problem." I am a multi-tasker by nature - often handling multiple tasks at once and being able to recall many facts very easily. Well .. it has struck. Last night I was thinking about a great tip I wanted to share with you guys and now that I've come to blog about it, I have racked my brain for the past hour or so and can NOT remember what it was. It is definitely frustrating albeit funny, ironic .. whatever word you want to use. Next I'll probably have trouble finding my wallet, the keys, etc - things I've been getting onto my husband about for years!

Cravings
Posted by
Lindsey
at 4:02 PM
One of my usual cravings struck me just now and I just had to blog about it. Apples. It's funny, you usually hear about the pregnant wife wanting the husband to run out in the middle of the night for an assortment of junk food and though I can't say I've never had a craving like that, my most consistent craving is apples. Green ones, red ones, I don't discriminate. I usually just try to find the least expensive ones or one that is on sale.
I was doing some research and found out that doctors go back and forth as to whether your cravings are linked to your body telling you you need a certain nutrient. Who know! All I know is that to me apples are one of the best tasting things in the world right now!
Have you had any unusual cravings?

Crib bedding
Posted by
Lindsey
at 10:45 PM
So, I have searched high and low for our crib bedding. Looking through hundreds of different themes, etc. We painted the room BEFORE we bought the bedding (probably not the brightest idea). After days and days AND days of searching I ran across an eBay listing for some bedding that would fit perfectly with the color we chose for the walls. Usually on eBay I stick to the 'Buy it Now' option, but I saw the seller had the bedding I wanted for $99.99 Buy it Now and $49.99 on auction (with 1 bid).
So, I stuck it out a few days to see if it was going to go any higher and when the auction came close to ending it still had the one bid. At the 1 minute mark I placed a bid for $60.00 and to my excitement it only increased the auction amount to $50.99 (meaning the previous bidder had ONLY bid $49.99, tops). So, I was able to find the perfect bedding for $50.99 brand new (+ shipping). I then looked on several other websites and found the exact same bedding at a cost of anywhere from $150 to $200.
My suggestion would be to find the bedding you want, find out the exact name of it and then type it in the ebay search bar. The one we purchased was brand new, so you should be able to find plenty of cute styles brand new AND if you want to save money, stick to going auction style.
This is the actual eBay store I purchased my bedding from. The picture of what we bought is above. Isn't it adorable? :) It's a 9 piece set ... now I just have to try and talk myself out of buying all the accessories OR finding a way to get them 'on the cheap'. If I find a way, I'll let you guys know first!

My (1st) 4D Ultrasound
Posted by
Lindsey
at 11:13 PM
So going off topic slightly .. I had my 4D ultrasound yesterday and to sum it up I am going to have to go back next Tuesday. Apparently baby Micah is a stubborn little guy! :) The ultrasound started off great ... I was getting to see my little baby who I hadn't 'seen' since my 18 week ultrasound. My face immediately lit up as his little body filled the screen in 2D. She checked all of his vitals and everything was great ... so far. He is head down at this point and she starts moving towards his face only to find out that his hands AND feet are covering it. She worked on it for about 10 minutes, then suggested I drink some grape juice and walk around to get him moving. I did that and she came back in to try AGAIN. He finally moved one leg but was being stubborn with the other three limbs, so we try the walking thing again. After about 10 more minutes the ultrasonographer suggests that we try again the following week. During that time we did get some pretty cute shots of his legs and feet. And we confirmed that he was boy. Overall it was a sweet experience for my husband and I. I can't wait to go back next week to possibly get a shot of his face! My ultrasonographer, Shannan, was great. She was enthusiastic and positive about the entire thing. Plus, the package we paid for allows us to go back again at no extra charge - which is a relief.
To tie the 4D Ultrasound into my blog theme - I will say that I did hours of research comparing prices and companies to do the 4D ultrasound. My doctor's office offers them but at a cost of about 30% more than what I paid with Stork Vision (if you're in the Atlanta area check them out), plus I got so many more 'bonuses' going with a smaller company and you can't beat the personal service.

Hi everyone! I am currently pregnant with my husband and I's first child. Micah, our little baby boy is due March 9. As the day nears my thoughts are consumed with buying everything we need to make his entrance into the world an easy transition. Being the 'thrifty' people we are, my husband and I are set on finding top quality things for Micah, but at an affordable price. I want this blog to be a place where I can share my 'finds', along with help you find great deals on baby items. I hope you find my tips and tricks helpful and I wish you the happiest pregnancy possible. :) Stay tuned...
